This week will see the release of Raazi starring Alia Bhatt and Vicky Kausal in lead. The film is directed by Meghna Gulzar, who is best known for Talvar. The theatrical trailer of the film was unveiled in April and evoked a positive response from the target audience, however after the trailer launch, the music didn’t quite work in the favour of the film. Although songs are good, they are mainly situational, and not the types that would top the musical charts.
The film is majorly riding on Alia Bhatt’s star-power and will be dependent on the content to emerge a hit in the long run. From the theatrical trailer, this one seems to have a strong content that would strike the chord with target audience and emerge a success, however it would be the audience word of mouth on Friday that would tell us the true story. The costs of the film are not that high, with the approximate budget in falling in the range of Rs 30 to 35 crore, and it wouldn’t be quite an uphill task for the film to recover the investment if it carries good reports.

The film is distributed by AA Films on commission basis, which means that there isn’t an additional pressure on the film to fare extremely well at the box office and it would be a successful venture at collections over 40 crores as the same would ensure adequate profits for everyone associated i.e. producers and distributors. Given the buzz and anticipation surrounding the film, it is expected to open in the range of 5 to 6 crores at the Box-Office, and the biz should escalate over the weekend. The targeted opening weekend collections for the film should be around 20 crores, which is a fair result.

The last when a film was totally riding on Alia Bhatt’s shoulders was Highway, which took a considerably decent opening of 3.75 crores plus back in 2014, when the actress was yet to prove her acting caliber. The screen count of Raazi would be like October i.e. the makers will be targeting a release on 1200 to 1300 screens. The opening day collections of October was Rs 5.04 crore, and if the word around Raazi is positive, the film should surpass the day one collections of October. However, all eventually depends on the Friday, when the audience would watch the film and share their views with the near and dear ones.
At this point of time, we would go ahead with an expectation of a fair opening of 5.25 – 5.30 crores. It will be on 12th May, when will shall come to know if the prediction proves to be true or false. What are your thoughts about the opening day collections of Raazi? Let us know.
