Vidya Balan starrer The Dirty Picture had a phenomenal weekend at the Indian box-office. The film, which had taken an extraordinary opening on Friday (December 2), collected Rs. 9.35 crore on the opening day (all-India net for the Hindi version). On Saturday, TDP added another Rs. 9.70 crore to its kitty. The Sunday collections of the film were slightly higher at Rs. 10.70 crore. This takes the total collections of the 3-day weekend to Rs. 29.75 crore (all-India net; Hindi version).

The dubbed Tamil and Telugu versions of the film made an additional Rs. 1.61 crore over the weekend. Therefore, the total of all three versions is Rs. 31.36 crore over the weekend. The breakdown of the 3-day collections is as follows:

If you though that only youngsters are queuing up for shows of TDP, think again. Even though it is a sex- and sleaze-based film, families and women were also attending the film’s shows, and they liked it. The Dirty Picture is proof that good content works when coupled with smart marketing.

The Dirty Picture Box-Office: Monday Opens Well

In more good news for the film’s producers, Monday (December 5) saw a lovely start. Several theatres reported housefull morning shows for The Dirty Picture.
