Love and romance are one of the most common human emotions. Every one of us loves and even desires it. No doubt the romance is also a film genre which is popular all over the world. Do you know? James Cameron directed romantic tragedy film Titanic created history at the box office as it crossed the $2 billion mark in 1997. Let alone the $2 billion mark, even $1 billion mark was very difficult to achieve at that time. Before Titanic, there were only two films which crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office and those were Jurrasic Park and Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.

James Cameron directorial Titanic had Leonardo DiCaprio & Kate Winslet in lead. The film did a lifetime global business of $2,195 million back in 1997.
The Bill Condon directorial 2017 film was a musical romantic fantasy which had Emma Watson in lead along with Dan Stevens, Luke Evans, Kevin Kline, Josh Gad and others. The film proved to be huge success and did a global business of $1,264 million.

The 2019 romantic adventure fantasy did amazingly well at the worldwide box office. Directed by Guy Ritchie the film had Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott & Will Smith in lead. Aladdin did a business of $1,051 million globally according to Box Office Mojo.
The Twilight is one romantic franchise which has been hugely successful. The 2012 romantic fantasy directed by Bill Condon did a worldwide business of $830 million. The film had Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson & Taylor Lautner in lead.
The 2009 Twilight film did a worldwide business of $724 million and is currently 5th highest-grossing romantic film.
The first part of Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn hit the cinemas all over the world in 2011 and did very well. The film was a treat for the love birds and scored $712 million.
The 2010 instalment of The Twilight series also performed amazingly. Directed by David Slade, the film did a business of $698 million globally.
The erotic romance, Fifty Shades Of Grey was a sensation as it released in 2015. The film starring Dakota Johnson & Jamie Dornan in lead set the box office on fire despite being an adult film. It did a business of $570 million worldwide. The film later became a franchise and its next two instalments also performed well.
The 1990 romantic fantasy thriller starring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore, Whoopi Goldberg & Tony Goldwyn was highest grosser of that year. Directed by Jerry Zucker, the film received mixed reviews from critics but went on to do a huge business of $506 million at the worldwide box office.
The Michael Bay directed 2001 romantic war drama did excellently well at the box office. Starring Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett, Kate Beckinsale, Cuba Gooding Jr., Tom Sizemore & others the film did a worldwide business of $449 million.
