Ayushmann Khurrana is on fire right now. While he has been giving back to back box office sleeper hits since a couple of years now, it’s only very recently when his films have started fetching out big moolah for producers.

After Badhaai Ho proved to be his first 100 crore grosser last year, he gave a super hit with Article 15 this year which did a total business of 63.05 crores. Quickly with Dream Girl as his 2nd film of 2019, he is ready to hit another century.

Dream Girl has fetched 44.57 crores in its first weekend and not any of Ayushmann’s previous films have done this kind of business earlier apart from Badhaai Ho. Even that film did a business of 45.06 crores in the first weekend which was extended by 1 day as it was a Thursday release.

Now the interesting part here is that the first weekend business of Dream Girl is more than the first week business of and even lifetime business of some of Ayushmann’s recent hits and super hits. Have a look below:

The Rise Of Ayushmann Khurrana: Dream Girl Earns More In First Weekend Compared To The Lifetime Business Of His Previous Few Hits
The Rise Of Ayushmann Khurrana: Dream Girl Earns More In First Weekend Compared To The Lifetime Business Of His Previous Few Hits

1. Dum Laga Ke Haisha

The film broke the chain of a string of flops for Ayushmann back in 2015. Backed by YRF and starring newcomer Bhumi Pednekar as the lead heroine was a slow starter but received patronage from the audience and emerged a strong Hit.

DLKH earned 1.1 crores on its first day and managed a lifetime total of 30 crores.

2. Bareilly Ki Barfi

Bareilly Ki Barfi which had Rajkummar Rao & Kriti Sanon along with Ayushmann Khurrana was also a low opener. After an opening of 2.42 crores, the film earned 34 crores lifetime and proved to be a Plus affair.

3. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan

The film which brought the Super Hit combo of Ayushmann & Bhumi back received an opening of 2.71 crores which was more than double of what they got with DLKH. It earned 41.90 crores lifetime and proved to be a Hit.

4. Andhadhun

This Super Hit film received huge love from the audience and got Ayushmann even a National Award for Best Actor. However, the film was not a big opener as it managed 2.70 crores on Day 1. With strong word of mouth, the collections multiplied and brought 15 crores in the weekend, 28 crores in the first week and 72.50 crores lifetime.

Although Dream Girl hasn’t earned big enough in the first weekend to cross the lifetime business of Andhadhun, it has surely earned way more than the first week business of that film. Also, the Saturday business of Dream Girl (16.43 crores) is more than the first weekend business of Andhadhun and that speaks volumes about the increase in goodwill of Ayushmann in past 1 year.

5. Article 15

The last super hit of Ayushmann was not a comedy and talked about a social issue. The screenplay was also pretty intense and lacked appeal for masses. Still, it earned 5.02 crores on Day 1, 20.04 crores in the first weekend and 34.16 crores in the first week. Lifetime collection, as mentioned above was 63.05 crores.

Dream Girl in its first weekend has beaten the first week business of Article 15 also.
