The Lunchbox Picks Up On Day 2 At The Box Office

The Lunchbox was indeed a cinematic masterpiece, however, in terms of audience there are few takers for such films. Nevertheless it showed ample promise at the box office. Despite releasing in 400 screens approx, on its opening day, the film recorded 1.25 crores and on its 1st Saturday, the film made approx 2.6 crores at the box office. The film has so far snowballed its total collections to a cumulative of 3.85 crores at the domestic box office.

Featuring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles, the film was a winner at the International Critics’ Week at Cannes Film Festival 2013. The film was one of forerunners for India’s choice for Oscar nomination this year and in terms of box office moolah, it has chances of faring well in the metropolitan cities by garnering praises from the multiplex audiences!
