After days of anticipation, The Lion King has finally hit the screens today across the country. One of the attraction points that Shah Rukh Khan and his elder son Aryan Khan have lend their voice for the characters of Mufasa and Simba (In Hindi Version), respectively, has created a good buzz for the movie in the last few days.
The Lion King is the photorealistic remake of Disney’s 1994 animated cult of the same name. Given the popularity of the original version, the movie was enjoying a decent pre-release hype and also the ongoing successful season of Hollywood releases ensured good awareness of the movie amongst the cine buffs.

Speaking about its competition, The Lion King is the only major release arrived this week. There’s Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30, which is attracting decent footfalls to theatres but given the niche genre, it will hardly affect this Disney’s release. Also, Article 15 and Kabir Singh have now slowed down at the box office, thus providing an open ground for The Lion King to pile on. All of these factors have resulted in a good showcasing across the country, as the movie has acquired a healthy count of above 2000 screens.

The latest report also suggests that the movie has taken a good start with a morning occupancy of 35%, pointing for a double-digit start at the ticket windows in India. Considering all the factors, this Disney flick is all set to register a start of 12 crores or more on opening day.
It is helmed by John Favreau, who’s last biggie The Jungle Book (2016) opened with a figure of 10.09 crores, which seems to be surpassed by The Lion King.
