The Lion King expectedly opened with the figures of 11.06 crores and with families being the target audience, the movie was expected to show a healthy jump on Saturday and Sunday. Also the favourable critics’ reviews and public feedback have helped a big time as the collections are said to settle in the range of 17-19 crores on day 2, which are amazing. After two days, the movie stands between 28.06-30.06 crores.
Given such sort of momentum, an unprecedented figure is expected on Sunday with a anything above 22 crores is also possible and if it happens, the movie will be aiming to attain 100 Crore milestone at the Indian box office.

The film is director Jon Favreau’s update of the 1994 Disney classic of the same name, with photo-realistic, computer-generated animation, and it brings back the adventures of Simba, who is to succeed his father Mufasa as King of the Pride Lands. It narrates a tale of how Simba rises up to the occasion despite several attempts to bring him down by his villainous uncle Scar.
The film opened in India across 2,140 screens on July 19 in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
