Tenet Box Office: Christopher Nolan’s Sci-Fi ROCKS Korean Cinemas But There’s A Bad News

Tenet has finally started releasing in cinemas and Korea is the first lucky country. The Christopher Nolan directed sci-fi had two-day previews in weekend and the good news is that it performed immensely well.

Tenet was played in 590 screens in Korea on Saturday and Sunday and it collected $715,000.

According to Variety, the film starring Robert David Washington and Robert Pattinson in lead did a business of $368,000 on Saturday and $347,000 on Sunday. The business of the film was pretty good considering it were just previews. Further, it ranked second at the Korean box office behind local film Deliver Us From Evil. Interestingly, Deliver Us From Evil has released at the box office at almost twice the number of screens compared to Tenet.

However, there seems to be bad luck for Korea and Tenet. The country has again seen the Coronavirus wave and it’s likely to affect the release of the film. In the past week, Korea’s Seoul has seen almost 1000 new cases compared to a total of 1800 from January & August. Following this, cinemas have been directed to be shut down in Seoul from Monday.

Meanwhile, Tenet will hit cinemas in the UK from August 26. The film will release in the US cinemas on September 3 and from September 4, it will hit China box office as well.
