There were two films that released in the weekend leading to Holi, Madgaon Express and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar. Both films are fighting it out at the box office and while former is a more commercial film and is drawing audiences at limited showcasing, same is the case with latter as well despite being a far more niche film and primarily catering to urban multiplex audiences.
That can well be seen from the fact that even in its third weekend, the film saw an increase in numbers on a daily basis and in fact crossed the 1 crore mark on both Saturday (1.10 crore) and Sunday (1.30 crore). This was good since both Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Crew were doing quite well even in their second weekend and still, despite being a holdover release, it didn’t give up. There are one or may be just two shows per major multiplexes and with good footfalls coming in, the occupancy there has increased.
On Monday again the film managed to bring in 30 lakhs* and that’s an expected hold when compared to Friday collections of 50 lakhs. With Eid releases Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Maidaan pushing from Wednesday to Thursday, the Randeep Hooda film will manage to add some more before concluding the week. So far, the film has collected 21.30 crores* and if it can weather the storm of the Eid releases for a week then it could well aim to get some numbers on a daily basis in weeks to follow and somehow aim to take a shot at 25 crores lifetime.
