Randeep Hooda’s Swatantrya Veer Savarkar released this Friday. The promo itself promised an explosive drama, and that’s exactly what the movie turned out to be, as well, with several untold stories narrated on screen. From the opening day perspective, though, it was always going to be a word-of-mouth dependent affair. Hence, the expectations were that somehow the film would cross 1 crore on Friday, and then critical acclaim coupled with audience feedback would take this forward.
This is what happened as well since the morning and afternoon shows were expectedly low for the film, but by evening, the numbers started getting better and better. That allowed the film to cross the 1 crore mark and close at 1.10 crore. Considering the fact that the film is a period drama and the production values are quite good too, there is a cost attached to it. Hence, it needs to earn good moolah from theatrical revenues as well. That means the collections need to rise quite well now, especially today and tomorrow so that the base is set for the film to perform.
Swatantrya Veer Savarkar has seen a restricted release for itself, and if the shows start getting full for the rest of the weekend, then one can expect the showcasing to see a rise as well. Ideally, Swatantrya Veer Savarkar would be aiming to double up on its Friday numbers today and go past the 2 crores mark. If that happens, then it would be game on for this well-made film.
