Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Is Much Ahead Of Joker, Captain Marvel & Other Biggies Of 2019 In THIS Box Office Feat

The year 2019 was surely a lucrative one for the film industry. Not just Bollywood but even Hollywood witnessed some big blockbusters. Leaving aside the Avengers: Endgame storm, there were quite a few other interesting feats at the box office as well. In today’s piece, we’ll be taking a look at how Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker remained ahead of biggies like Joker, Captain Marvel and others.

Surprising it might sound but despite being a bit lower in global collections, last year’s Star Wars beats much higher grossers like Joker, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: Far from Home and Frozen II. Here we are talking about the domestic collection. Yes, in the domestic market, Star Wars performed much better than the aforementioned films.

In terms of the global collections of 2019, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($1.0741 billion) has been placed at 7th position. It is ranked below Avengers: Endgame ($2.797 billion), The Lion King ($1.65 billion), Frozen II ($1.45 billion), Spider-Man: Far from Home ($1.131 billion), Captain Marvel ($1.128 billion) and Joker ($1.0742 billion), as per Box Office Mojo.

But in the case of domestic collection, the ranking is as follows- Avengers: Endgame ($858 million), The Lion King ($543 million), Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ($515 million), Frozen II ($477 million), Captain Marvel ($426 million), Spider-Man: Far from Home ($390 million) and Joker ($335 million).

Directed by J. J. Abrams, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker features Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley among others in key roles. The film released on the 16th December 2019.
