Join UsSonakshi Sinha’s Akira had a decent first week as it went on to collect 26.39 crore at the Box Office. Of course, anything in excess of 30 crore would have been an even better news for the film. However, the collections are still the kind that makes one look forward to what the second week has to offer the film.
When compared to other female-centric films of 2016, this is how Sonakshi Sinha’s Akira has performed:
Neerja – 35.32 crore
Jai Gangaajal – 30.15 crore
Akira – 26.39 crore
Sarbjit – 22.09 crore
Happy Bhag Jayegi – 17.65 crore
While Sonam Kapoor’s Neerja was a different ballgame altogether and went on to grow from strength to strength, Priyanka Chopra’s Jai Gangaajal had just about hung on. Meanwhile Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Sarbjit had ended its run at 30.5 crore. While Akira would definitely cross this total, it has to be seen that how much further does it go beyond that.
Sonakshi Sinha would now be seen in another action oriented film next, Force 2. She has John Abraham for company there and it is expected that she would be doing a lot more stunts in this sequel where she plays an agent. The film releases in November this year.
