Sidharth Malhotra Box Office Collection Day 1: Beating 2 Akshay Kumar Openings By 125%, 2 Kareena Kapoor Khan & Matching 1 Ranbir Kapoor Opening!

Sidharth Malhotra is all set to wear the Army Uniform yet again with Yodha, and the aerial action film is ready to churn out some great numbers at the box office on March 15, its opening day. This takes us back to the time the actor delivered his first superhit at the box office. It was with his very first film, Student Of The Year.

However, very interestingly, while Sid made his debut in 2012, his first day at the box office was also phenomenal. In fact, the opening of the film helmed by Karan Johar surpassed the opening numbers of many films that year, including Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan‘s films.

Sidharth Malhotra’s first day at the box office was on October 19, 2012. The actor, who made a superhit debut along with Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, attained stardom overnight with the film that was loved by some, criticized by some, but ignored by none!

Student Of The Year Opening

While SOTY, on its opening day, collected 9 crore at the box office, the film went ahead and earned 28.5 crore in its first weekend and then 47 crore in its lifetime.

Surpassing 2 Akshay Kumar Films

With its 9 crore opening, Sidharth Malhotra, with his debut film on its debut day at the box office, surpassed the box office openings of two Akshay Kumar films. One of them was a superhit eventually, and the other was a disaster. While Oh My God collected 4 crore on its opening day, Sidharth Malhotra scored almost 125% higher with SOTY’s opening. Meanwhile, even Joker collected 4.6 crore at the box office.

Matching Ranbir Kapoor’s Superhit Opening

Sidharth Malhotra, on his opening day, matched his senior Ranbir Kapoor‘s opening day for Barfi. The romance drama collected 9.2 crore on day 1, a little higher than the Shershaah actor’s opening day for his debut film.

Far Better Than Another Star Kid Debut!

The same year happened to be the debut year for Arjun Kapoor, whose film Ishaqzaade was produced by Yash Raj Films. However, the film co-starring Parineeti Chopra earned only 4.06 crore at the box office and still earned a hit status.

Other Superstar Films That Were Left Behind

Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Heroine, which collected 7.2 crore on its opening day, and Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, which collected 5.25 crore on day 1, were also surpassed by Sidharth Malhotra’s debut at the box office. Shahid Kapoor’s Teri Meri Kahaani also opened at 5 crore and was a flop.

Sidharth Malhotra definitely made a mark at the box office with his debut film and 9 crore opening – his debut day at the box office. Hope, Yodha, brings far bigger and better numbers than his first superhit!
