Loosely based on senior journalist Hussain Zaidi’s book Dongri to Dubai, the second edition of Ekta Kapoor’s Shootout series doesn’t flow from its prequel. Based on the life of notorious gangster Manya Surve, Shootout At Wadala is a dramatic account of his ascent and depletion. Starring John Abraham, Anil Kapoor amongst an ace ensemble cast, the film can be expected to have a grand opening of 50%-60% occupancy. With select single screens having already pre-booked one fourth of their seats for the film’s earlier shows, the response on this one will be gigantic as compared to this Friday’s other release Bombay Talkies.
Another crowd puller for this film will be Priyanka Chopra and Sunny Leone’s hit item numbers Babli Badmaash and Laila respectively. The film’s target group is mainly the non-metropolitan circuits with a vast single screen audiences. Another fame spinner factor for this film would be the appealing chemistry of John and Kangana Ranaut, who have been coupled up for the first time on silver screen and the trailers show an engaging team up!

Expecting a persona changing role as Manya Surve, the performance of Shootout At Wadala is most crucial for John Abraham whose last film I, Me Aur Main was met with a wearisome response at the box-office.

Producer Ekta Kapoor who teamed up with Vishal Bharadwaj for Ek Thi Daayan failed to evoke a magical response at the box-office despite traversing a new premise in the horror genre and will try her old charm at working out the magic of her 2007 successful thriller, Shootout At Lokhandwala, which earned above 60 crores approximately.
