Shivaay has managed to enter the 100 Crore Club. The film has gathered 100.05 crore so far and has managed to achieve this feat in 31 days. Incidentally, there are only three other films in the century club that have taken more time to reach this mark. These are:
Bol Bachchan [45 days]
Singham [50 days]
Race 2 [63 days]
The film may just have managed to accomplish this feat a week earlier if not for the demonetization which halted its progress. The film has been primarily running in single screen theaters for the last couple of weeks and this is the segment that has been impacted most by demonetization. In fact the film has also been hit by 2-3 crore from the final run perspective due to this very reason. Nonetheless, Ajay Devgn and his team would thank their stars that this decision wasn’t taken a week or two earlier because that would have put a serious dent in the lifetime collections.
Nonetheless, for Ajay Devgn, this is the third time since the formation of the 100 Crore Club when a film of his has managed to cross the century mark with a clash. While he has six centuries to his name, he has managed this feat thrice with a clash and thrice without a clash. Here is how:
Shivaay [clash with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil]
Son of Sardaar [clash with Jab Tak Hai Jaan]
Golmaal 3 [clash with Action Replayy]
Bol Bachchan – solo
Singham Returns – solo
Singham – solo
His next two releases in 2017 are Baadshaho and Golmaal Again and these too would be clashing with Yash Raj Films’ Meri Pyaari Bindu [12th May] and Rajinikanth-Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 [Diwali in October’17] respectively. Interesting times ahead for sure!
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
