After Bholaa, Ajay Devgn is looking for a bounce back, so all eyes are set on how his Shaitaan turns out to be. Also featuring R Madhavan in the main role, the film has managed to lift up its pre-release buzz due to a well-cut trailer. But has it managed to translate that buzz in the advance booking at the Indian box office? Let’s find out what the day 1 report suggests!
Before coming with Bholaa, Ajay tasted a blockbuster success with Drishyam 2, which performed much beyond expectations. Just like Bholaa, even the Drishyam sequel was a remake, but the main advantage in the latter’s case was that the Hindi dubbed version was never done. So, a majority of the audience in the Hindi belt didn’t see the Malayalam sequel led by Mohanlal. Even Ajay’s upcoming release might enjoy the same advantage.

For those who don’t know, Shaitaan is an official remake of a Gujarati horror film, Vash. It was released in 2023 and received highly positive reviews from critics. Vash revolves around the character played by Janki Bodiwala, and she’ll be reprising her role in the Hindi remake.

Coming to the advance booking report for day 1, it is learned that Shaitaan has shown an improvement and witnessed a jump of 54.78%. As per our report yesterday evening, the film had sold tickets worth 42.64 lakh gross. Now, as per the latest update, the figure has moved up to 66 lakh gross (excluding blocked seats) all across the country. It includes a count of over 28,000 tickets.
So far, the ticket sales have been decent, but Shaitaan needs to pick up the pace and add as much as possible in the remaining three days. Ideally, the film should cross the 1 crore mark today, and before the first show on Friday happens, it should close its opening day advance booking at 2.50-3 crores gross (excluding blocked seats). Let’s see what happens over the next three days.

Meanwhile, Shaitaan releases in theatres on 8th March. It is directed by Vikas Bahl.
