Shaitaan Box Office Collection VS Drishyam 2: Ajay Devgn’s Horror Flick Fails To Touch Drishyam 2’s 28% Higher Week 1 Collection (Day Wise Tally)

Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan has finished its first week run at the box office and collected 81.68 crore at the box office. While the horror film was expecting a single-digit opening of 8 – 9 crore, it registered a surprising two-digit opening, creating a positive environment for the film to perform at the box office.

Shaitaan started on a very strong and similar note to Ajay‘s previous successful film, Drishyam 2, and since the film performed along the same lines overseas as well, it was expected to trend in the same manner.

Drishyam 2 was released in the year 2022 and became a super hit. It collected 241 crore in its lifetime, and Shaitaan was expected to cross the 100 crore mark in week one. Here is the day-to-day tally of the horror flick with Ajay Devgn‘s previous superhit co-starring Tabu.

Both Films Opened In The Same Range

Drishyam 2 and Shaitaan both opened in almost the same range. While the suspense thriller released in 2022 opened at 15.38 crore, Shaitaan, this year opened at 15.21 crore. This gave a major hope that both films might follow very similar trends.

Major Differentiator – The First Holiday

The first holiday for both films was the first Sunday, day 3 of their release, and this is where the major drift came along. While Shaitaan collected 20.74 crore on the first Sunday, Drishyam 2 had registered 27.17 crore on its first Sunday.

Further, Drift Over The Week

In week one, while Shaitaan collected around 5 – 6 crore every day, Drishyam 2 stayed much higher in the range of 10 – 12 crore except on the seventh day, which collected 8.62 crore, still higher than any regular weekday by Shaitaan.

While Shaitaan delivered 81.68 crore in week 1, Drishyam 2 earned a little 28% higher, crossing the 100 crore mark in week 1. However, hopefully, Shaitaan will stick to its momentum in week 2 as well.
