Sunday proved to be yet another good day for Shaitaan as collections came to 4.50 crores*. This is nice as we are talking about the third Sunday here, and that too for a non-event film. Moreover, the Vikas Bahl film also belongs to the supernatural genre, and typically such films have a shelf life of a maximum of two weeks. However, Shaitaan is continuing to do quite well even in the third week and such is the kind of hold that it’s demonstrating that the good run will continue for the next few weeks as well.
The collections of the film have now zoomed up to 129 crores*, and many would have presumed that this would be the best-case scenario when it comes to the lifetime total. Here, I am not talking about pre-release predictions because back then, not many would have expected it to reach till 100 crores mark either, given the genre. Instead, even after the fantastic opening weekend, many would have pegged this one to be a 125 crores earner, and here it will go at least 25 crores ahead of that.
The release timing has worked out really well for the Ajay Devgn and Madhavan starrer since it first arrived on a partial holiday of Mahashivratri, and now its third Monday is falling on the partial holiday of Holi. As a result, while yesterday the film did get impacted in the evening and night shows due to pre-Holi preparations, as a result of which the collections were lesser than Saturday, today the film will do better, though again it would be impacted to a good extent due to absence of morning and early afternoon shows since the majority of theatres start operating only post 2 PM onwards. Still, this Monday would emerge as better than regular Mondays.
