Ajay Devgn’s Shaitaan has earned 55.13 crore at the box office with its first-weekend collection, and while the film has performed beyond expectations on the first three days of its release, it is expected to hold the fort through the weekend as well.

In fact, 100 crore does not seem to be an impossible challenge for the film, which is expected to have a decent and stable collection over the coming weekdays.

Helmed by Vikas Bahl, Shaitaan stars Ajay Devgn as a helpless father, Jyothika as a struggling mother, and R Madhavan as the devil. It needs a very easy target to surpass the first horror hit by the Tanhaji actor.

1st Horror Hit – 2003

Ajay Devgn delivered his first hit in the horror genre in 2003 with Ram Gopal Varma’s Bhoot, which was a full-fledged horror film. Starring Urmila Matondkar, Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Seema Biswas, Rekha and Fardeen Khan. It collected 14.30 crore in India and 21.90 crore worldwide. The horror flick earned a hit status at the box office.

Bhoot – Opening Day VS Lifetime

The film by Ram Gopal Varma opened at 1.19 crore in India but ended up earning 12 times its opening day in its lifetime. It ran for almost 6 weeks in the theaters, which was an achievement in itself. The film collected 3.76 crore in its first weekend and 6.65 crore in its first week.

Bhoot – Box Office Profit

The horror flick that was released in 2003 was made on a budget of 6 crore and registered a profit of 138.33%. While Bhoot was Ajay Devgn’s first clean hit in the horror genre, Shaitaan needs a very easy target to match the profit percentage. The Vikas Bahl film, which is being speculated to be made on a budget of 60 – 65 crore according to floating numbers, needs an easy 154.99 crore to match the success of his first hit. Going by the trajectory of the film’s performance in the first three days, Ajay Devgn is surely going to repeat history.
