Teri Meri Kahaani‘ has turned out to be yet another huge flop for Shahid Kapoor and the young man is obviously disappointed. If the debacle of ‘Mausam‘ wasn’t bad enough, the poor box office response to ‘Teri Meri Kahaani‘ clearly indicates that the film would fold up at even lesser collections.

Shahid Kapoor in Teri Meri Kahaani

“‘Teri Meri Kahaani‘ failure is a huge blow for Shahid”, says a trade expert, “He was obviously banking on the film to bring him out of the failure of ‘Mausam’, which was his most ambitious project till date. A quintessential romcom like ‘Teri Meri Kahaani‘ came with a good promise. However the fact that it didn’t even take an opening means that the audience were just not interested. Blame it on the ‘thanda’ promos but the fact remains that Shahid has to really rethink about his career moves ahead.”

What is making matters worse for him is the fact that while ‘Teri Meri Kahaani‘ is threatening to fold up under the 30 crores mark, his competitors like Ranbir Kapoor, Imran Khan and now even Emraan Hashmi are managing such collections in the very first weekend of their films.

“‘Rockstar‘, ‘Mere Brother Ki Dulhan‘ and ‘Jannat 2‘ have put the aforementioned actors in a very healthy position. Films starring Ranbir, Imran and Emraan are finding good audience and now even John Abraham has soared ahead with films like ‘Housefull 2‘, ‘Force‘ and ‘Desi Boys‘ finding good foot falls. On the other hand Shahid has to rebuild his position which he seems to have left behind during the ‘Badmaash Company’ days, which was as long as two years back”, adds a source.

It is high time the youngster rises up to the occasion and makes his talent count.
