Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Randeep Hooda starrer Sarbjit released last Friday. The film made a three day collection of 13.95 crores at the domestic box office. The Omung Kumar film was based on the real-life story of Indian farmer Sarabjit Singh, who was convicted in a Pakistan jail.
Interestingly, in spite of being the solo Bollywood release this week, it has shown quite a disappointing start. The film is way behind Kumar’s last film Mary Kom, which had collected 30.60 crores over its opening weekend.

Amongst this year’s releases, Sarbjit failed to make it to the top 10 highest opening weekend list. It scored lower than even Tusshar Kapoor starrer Kyaa Kool Hai Hum 3 which had made a weekend business of 20.15 crores. The film had made these collections despite the competition from the other grand release Airlift.
The film’s collections were much lesser than Katrina Kaif’s Fitoor which even after being panned by the critics, had made a weekend collection of 14.11 crores. Sarbjit also failed to outperform another flop, John Abraham’s Rocky Handsome [16.12 crores].
Considering the expected drop in the week days, looks like Sarbjit is headed for a disappointing ride ahead!
