As highlighted last week, Dabangg 2 didn’t have any competition in its second weekend, either from Bollywood or Hollywood. Sole release of the week, Tom Cruise starrer Jack Reacher, wasn’t even noticed by most and it’s odd release timing (it isn’t one of those Christmas/festival outing) further resulted in it being totally ignored.
This resulted in Dabangg 2 making merry with over 20 crores coming in. As a result, the Salman Khan starrer now stands at 127.65 crores, a feat that has been accomplished in 10 days flat. Collections were hit to some extent by key cricket matches on Friday and Sunday but still the film is continuing on a winning note.
With these numbers being accomplished, the film now stands as the third highest grossing film of the year 2012. Collections of Agneepath and Jab Tak Hai Jaan have been surpassed and by the time second week of Dabangg 2 comes to a close, the Arbaaz Khan directed affair would have crossed Rowdy Rathore (131 crores) to emerge as the second biggest success after Ek Tha Tiger (198 crores).
The film would have yet another week to bring in substantial moolah since next major releases, Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and Vishwaroop, arrive only on 11th January. Till then, it is time for Dabangg 2 to rejoice.
Dabangg 2 has now moved up in the Koimoi.com Top 10 Indian Movies 2012 to the 3rd position hence becoming the 3rd highest earning movie in India.
