Rock On 2, Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur | Friday Collections

There wasn’t really any spark at the Box Office yesterday as entertainment was the last thing in the mind of ‘aam junta’. With focus on getting money from the ATMs and exchanging old currency notes, it was tough to imagine even regular Friday audiences making beelines for the new releases. Moreover, considering the fact that there wasn’t really much of a hype surrounding either of the two new major releases, it was anyways an uphill task for theaters to show much of collections.

Still, Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur [RBSB] at least worked in some pockets and brought out that segment of audience which had lapped up the first in the series. The film has seen a good sized release in Punjabi and Hindi and that has helped it open to decent numbers in Punjab and Delhi NCR belt. With 1.75 crore* coming in, the film has taken some sort of a start and now it has to be seen what’s the kind of distance it would eventually cover.

Box Office – Rock On 2 and Chaar Sahibzaade: Rise of Banda Singh Bahadur – Friday collections

Rock On 2 has just not managed to rise as the collections were quite low at 2.02 crore. These are less than half of what one would have expected even in the worst case scenario and it is clear that both demonetization as well as lack of interest amongst the audiences has hit the film hard. Farhan Akhtar’s last release as a main lead, Wazir, had opened to 5.57 crore and Rock On 2 Day One is nowhere close to that. In fact the collections are lesser than films like Fitoor [3.61 crore], TE3N [2.61 crore] and Great Grand Masti [2.5 crore] which pretty much tells the tale. The film would need a miracle from this point on!
