Ranbir Kapoor’s latest film, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that released last Friday has attained new heights, in a matter of merely two weekends. The film that has swiftly entered the 100 crore club in 7 days of its release, has the second highest second weekend collections at the domestic box office after 3 Idiots.
After the conclusion of YJHD’s second weekend, the film, which now rests at 136.36 crores, can be compared to most biggies on the 100 crore list. The film has scored higher than Ajay Devgn’s Golmaal 3 (which is Ajay’s highest grosser) that had a total earning of 107 crores.

Following the same, the film has also earned more than the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan (which was a bigger earner than his Ra. One which too is in the 100 crore club) that recorded a lifetime collections of 120.65 crores.
Ranbir Kapoor’s film has also beaten Hrithik Roshan’s Agneepath which had a total collection of 123 crores and Akshay Kumar’s Rowdy Rathore(which was a bigger earner than his Housefull 2 which too is in the 100 crore club) that has accumulated an earning of 131 crores.
Though the film has made great records at the box office and has beaten most of Bollywood’s erstwhile superstars, it still hasn’t surmounted the colossal earnings of Salman Khan’s Dabangg 2and Ek Tha Tiger. The films that have earned 158 crores and 198 crores respectively are figures bit tough to beat. However, it seems YJHD‘s unbelievable pace can easily surpass the lifetime collections of Dabangg 2 but Ek Tha Tiger will be a feat hard to achieve.
After a long spell, YJHD has finally proved to be a film that has lived up to the hype it built, which is one of the main reasons for its phenomenal performance. However, the film has still a long way to go before it can top the domestic box office collections.
With indomitable earning records like Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots and Salman Khan starrer ETT still higher up in list, there is a big challenge for YJHD to achieve before it wraps up its lifetime collections!
