When star kids enter the film industry, there are a lot of expectations latched onto them. Coming from the Kapoor clan, Ranbir Kapoor’s debut had grabbed a lot of eyeballs. Even though he didn’t taste immediate success in Bollywood, Ranbir has gradually grown to be a promising actor in the industry. Having starred in eleven films so far, the actor’s journey till date has been a mixed bag of hits and misses.

Unfortunately, Ranbir’s first film Saawariya itself was declared a flop at the box office with a collection of 360 million worldwide but the actor managed to deliver a hit with his second film Bachna Ae Haseeno (scored 625 million). Further maintaining his stride, he gave another hit with Wake Up Sid, which won him a lot of praises for his character and the film collected 461 million from all over. After becoming a chocolate boy in Saawariya and a serial flirt in Bachna Ae Haseeno, Ranbir tried his hands at comedy in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Katrina Kaif and the film was well-received. It was declared a super-hit with a collection of 966.3 million at the box office. In the same year, he also starred in Rocket Singh – Salesman Of The Year but the film which was meant for a niche audience did not fare well and was declared a below average grosser, it made 105.18 million. This was a low period for the star after his back to back hits.

He further resurfaced with Raajneeti which performed excellently at the box office with record collections of 1431 million and was declared a blockbuster. Even though the film was a multi-starrer, Ranbir received positive responses for his films. He could not maintain the same position with his next film as his next was a romantic drama Anjaana Anjaani. The film in spite of heavy promotions and a hit music album could not perform well; it was declared a above average grosser with worldwide collections of 500 million.

Post Anjaana Anjaani, Ranbir’s career graph has been on a high. His next Rockstar, won him awards and was a hit at the box office with massive collections of 1080 million. There was no looking back for Ranbir post this as he gave a super-hit Barfi (1750 million) and in the next year itself Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (3110 million) another super-hit at the box office.

Of course all good things come to an end and so did Ranbir’s box office charm with his 2013 film Besharam (950 million) which was trashed by the critics as it ended up as a flop at the box office.

While 2014 was a dry spell for Ranbir as he had no release, 2015 seems to be a big one for the star as three films are up for release. Roy has released today and there are a lot of expectations from it. Also his other two big project Bombay Velvet is set to finally release in 2015. While 2016 too is lined up with Jagga Jasoos and Tamasha which have already created massive buzz.

Note: All collections mentioned above are overseas and domestic box office collections both included.
