This was always on the cards. Even though the first week of Prem Ratan Dhan Payo is still on, quite a few records set in 2015 continue to break. If the film has already enjoyed the biggest opening [40.35 crore] of 2015 and has also scored the record for biggest first four days ever [129.77 crore] for a film, now there is another record that has been hit out of the park. The Rajshri and Fox release is now officially the second biggest grosser of 2015.
On its sixth day (Tuesday), it brought in 12.04 crore more. As a result, the film now stands at 155.43 crore. With this, it has now went past by the lifetime collections of Tanu Weds Manu Returns, which had netted 152 crore in a run spanning over 50 days. However, the Sooraj Barjatya film, which is of course much bigger in scale, size and set up, has managed these numbers in its first (extended) week itself with two more days remaining.
The film was quite stable yesterday when compared to Monday. With these numbers, the Salman Khan starrer has also gone past the first week total of Shahrukh Khan’s Happy New Year [152 crore – Hindi version] and is quite close to his Chennai Express numbers [156.71 crore], a record which would be broken by this evening.
Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
