Pink Is A Surprise Big Success Of 2016 | 1st Week Box Office Report

Pink has turned out to be a surprise big success of 2016. Just when one was witnessing a string of flops [A Flying Jatt, Akira, Baar Baar Dekho, Freaky Ali] and was hoping for at least an average runner at the Box Office, Pink hit the screens.

At maximum, one expected to score on the same lines as a Talvar or NH10. In fact anything over 30 crore for a lifetime run would have resulted in some kind of respectable outcome for the courtroom drama. Moreover, Amitabh Bachchan had a couple of Box Office disappointments in the form of Wazir and TE3N and that further cast a shadow on the distance Pink would cover.

Still, defying all odds, the film has done really well. With 35.91 crore coming in, the film is already in the success zone and now it has to be seen that whether very good word of mouth would take it close to the 60 crore mark.

Considering the fact that there is not much competition from this week’s releases and the target audience outside Maharashtra (where Riteish Deshmukh’s Banjo would be the first choice) have Pink as a major option, the Taapsee Pannu, Kirti Kulhari and Andrea Tariang film is set to have a further good run.
