Join UsThe Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan led Mission Mangal has done exceedingly well at the Box Office thanks to the holiday benefit on August 15 and excellent word of mouth. In the 4 day extended weekend, the movie has earned 97.56 crores and that is something very few must have expected from the film.
With this kind of business, Mission Mangal hasn’t just crossed the weekend business of other big films like Kabir Singh (70.83 crores), Gully Boy (72.45 crores) & Kesari (77.56 crores), it has also emerged as the film to score 2nd highest weekend of the year so far. The only film which leads Mission Mangal is Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat which did a business of 150.10 crores in 5 day weekend.
Mission Mangal is now eyeing strong weekdays and if it can achieve the first week in 145-150 crores range, the road to 200 crore mark will get a lot easier. Of course, a lot will depend on the trend in 2nd week and 3rd week too but things look positive as of now.

Earlier talking about the prospects of Bollywood films with female actors in lead and how it’s always the male lead who takes the credit of success, Vidya Balan said, “There is no denying that the biggest star in this film and one of the biggest stars in the country is Akshay Kumar. When you talk about the business of a film, you talk in terms of the male actor. But things are changing, we have been headlining films, our films are doing well. Hopefully, in a few years, this change will also happen. But as of today, when you talk about the business of a film, you do say that an Akshay Kumar film has earned this much.”
