Join Us2019 is turning out to be one of the better years for Bollywood when it comes to a good commercial run of movies and the release of Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal is yet another solid testimony to that fact. The film has taken a very good start on its Independence Day release and in the process found itself right amongst the top Day One grossers of the year.
As is evident from the list below, it has comfortably gone past the trio of K-brigade, Kalank, Kesari and Kabir Singh, when it comes to the opening day numbers. While each of these three films managed to just about go past the 20 crores mark, Mission Mangal has gone miles ahead of them and that too with a clash. With the collections actually close to the 30 crores milestone, this is indeed an achievement for the Akshay Kumar starrer.
Here are the biggest first day numbers of the 2019 releases:
Bharat – 42.30 crores
Mission Mangal – 29.16 crores
Kalank – 21.60 crores
Kesari – 21.06 crores
Kabir Singh – 20.21 crores

The film which sits right at the top is Salman Khan’s event Eid release, Bharat. That film had a meteoric start but then fell immediately after to fold up around the 200 crores mark. The makers of Mission Mangal would be hoping for a more stable run so that it comes close to the kind of lifetime that the Salman Khan starrer had enjoyed on its release.
