Mirzya Turns Out To Be A Huge Commercial Failure| 1st Week Box Office Report

Mirzya has been rejected, and how. This is evident from very poor numbers that the film has accumulated in its one week run so far. With just 9.5 crore* coming in, the film has just not managed to register any impact whatsoever. While one was never too hopeful about its reach at the single screen theaters, at least in premium multiplexes of the big cities it was expected to make some kind of traction. However, even that didn’t happen and eventually the first week numbers are the kind that the film should have managed at the least in its first two days in theaters.

The film’s disastrous show can be gauged by the fact that the film doesn’t just have lesser numbers than other high profile newcomer affairs like Student of the Year, Baaghi, Ishaqzaade, Hero and Saawariya but is actually comparable to many other smaller films. Let’s take a look at the first week numbers of these films:

Vicky Donor (2012) – 15 crore
Aap Kaa Surroor (2007) – 10 crore
Mirzya (2016) – 9.50 crore*
Sanam Teri Kasam (2016) – 8.50 crore

This pretty much shows where the film stands and eventually, its lifetime would be comparable to only Sanam Teri Kasam (9.15 crore) which had a much lesser budget. That said, the Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane film has done very well on television owing to hit songs and decent treatment. However, the Harshvardhan Kapoor and Saiyami Kher film would possibly not match its success on satellite either due to its elitist treatment, which couldn’t entice the target audience in theaters anyways.

Silver lining though is that the newcomers are still in chance for a longer innings ahead. Harshvardhan Kapoor has a couple of films in hand (Bhavesh Joshi and Sriram Raghavan’s next) while Saiyami Kher too would be signing her next soon. The duo has managed to register its presence at least amongst the industry folks and the next film that they do could well turn out to be a re-launch of sorts.
