Though there has been quite a hype about Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola and the movie also managed to get good reviews by most of the reviewers, it failed to show what is called a spectacular opening. The movie opened at a low pace with occupancy of about 30% in multiplexes across most parts of India. Single screens were no better and the movie will need to pick up in the late evening shows to make a mark on its opening day.

However, since the movie has a good chance of positive word of mouth, it might pick anytime soon. 2012 showed us many movies which started off on a smaller note but made it large at the domestic box office.
