The film that astonished everyone with its unique story line, Mastram managed to impress the  audiences. The film had a decent occupancy on its first day compared to other releases. According to early estimates, the film collected around 75 lacs on its opening day at the domestic box office.

The film dealing with the protagonist’s writer’s block which eventually leads him to becoming a porn writer received rave reviews for its unheard story line and a unique presentation. Earlier launched at the Mumbai Film Festival, the praises have been abundant for this movie. Also the lead cast performances seemed to impress the critics. Without any pre-release buzz, Mastram managed to grab enough eyeballs.
