Malang Box Office: Disha Patani, Aditya Roy Kapur’s romantic thriller hit the theatre screens today, and has already received rave reviews from the critics. The film features the duo in sizzling chemistry, and that along with the super quirky promos have been a reason that fans have been excited to witness this Mohit Suri directed film on the big screens. But what’s the situation in terms of its morning occupancy? Let’s find out.

Malang just like Mohit Suri’s previous successes, Ek Villain and Aashiqui 2, is largely dependent on word of mouth, and that will majorly set the pace for it. That being said, competition from recent releases like Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, Varun Dhawan’s Street Dancer 3D & Saif Ali Khan’s Jawaani Jaaneman is another obstacle that this romantic thriller will have to make its way through.

As far as the morning occupancy is concerned at the ticket windows, the film has opened up in the range of 10-15% which is fair considering the niche genre. With the growing positive word of mouth, the film will witness an upward trend in the evening and night shows, that in turn is expected to trigger its collections for the box office run.

Apart from Disha Patani and Aditya Roy Kapur, the film also stars Anil Kapoor, Elli AvRam, Kunal Kemmu and Amruta Khanvilkar in pivotal roles.

Talking about Malang, Mohit Suri previously revealed, “It’s a story about four different characters from different backgrounds. They have a different interpretation of ‘malang’. The word ‘Malang’ essentially refers to a man who stays by himself, who is not connected to worldly rules, regulations, law and order. He is happy in his own world. A person can be ‘malang’ when he is truly, madly and deeply in love, when he does not care about what happens in the outside world. It also happens when you have lost someone you loved the most and you have nothing to lose, so you don’t fear anything. The loss of fear is also a state of ‘malang’. These characters, who are in different states of ‘malang’, meet one Christmas evening in Goa. The film is about how they all cross paths and what happened five years back on the same day.”
