After delivering a successful film with Shaitaan, Ajay Devgn is geared up for his much-talked-about Eid release, Maidaan. The film has been in the making for a long time, and finally, it is going to appear on the big screen, so there’s excitement in the air. But is this excitement justified by the ongoing advance booking for day 1? Let’s find out about it!
What is Maidaan all about?
Directed by Amit Sharma, the film is a biographical sports drama and is based on Syed Abdul Rahim, who changed the scene of football in India between 1952 and 1962. The film witnessed multiple delays due to various reasons, but finally, it is ready to entertain the audience on the big screen. Ajay has always nailed serious roles, and this time, too, he looks in top form.
Advance booking status of Maidaan
Talking about the advance booking of Maidaan, it’s now open in limited locations and full-fledged pre-sales are yet to start. Within this limited booking, the film has sold around 4,500 tickets, which has amassed around 8.05 lakh gross (excluding blocked seats) so far for day 1. It’s a decent response and the good thing is that the film is showing growth and it isn’t stuck at one point. Very soon, the mark of 10 lakh would be touched.
Trending
Maidaan is a big film, and as it’ll get to enjoy a long opening weekend, expectations are very high.
Big competition standing in the way
Alongside Maidaan, Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is also arriving in theatres this Eid. Since both films are made considering the big screen experience, there will be tough competition at the box office. While Ajay Devgn’s film will primarily target the big cities, BMCM will primarily target the mass centers. So, there’s enough scope for both releases, but the collection of each film will still be impacted due to the division of screens.
More about Maidaan
Scheduled to release on 10th April, the film also stars Priyamani and Gajraj Rao in key roles. It is produced by Zee Studios, Boney Kapoor, Arunava Joy Sengupta, and Akash Chawla.
Recently, Maidaan was cleared by CBFC with a U/A certificate, which is 3 hours, 1 minute, and 30 seconds long.
