Lal Salaam, Lover Box Office Collection (India) Day 6: Kollywood Sees A Low Box Office Earnings This Valentine’s Week

Here’s how much Lal Salaam and Lover made business at the domestic market in 6 days at the box office

Two movies, Lover and Lal Salaam, were released on February 9 and clashed at the box office on Valentine’s Day weekend. Read on to know the box office collection of Kollywood films after 6 days.

Lal Salaam, directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth, starred Rajinikanth, Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth, while Lover features Manikandan and Gouri Priya Reddy in the lead roles. Considering higher face value with Lal Salaam, the movie dominated Lover on the first two days of release.

Lover, a new age romance drama directed by Prabhuram Vyaas, received a below-average opening but managed to impress select regions. In fact, on Monday, Lover had higher collections in Tamil Nadu, compared to Lal Salaam.

How Lal Salaam fared in 1st week:

The cricket-drama opened with 3.55 crore on Friday (Day 1), followed by a minor drop in the earnings on Saturday (Day 2) with 3.25 crore and 3.15 crore on Sunday (Day 3). On Monday the film 51% drop from its Friday earnings, making a business of 1.55 crore. On Tuesday, the film witnessed further drop with 1.45 crore and its Wednesday earnings being 1.21 crore (early estimates). Lal Salaam’s 6 days box office total stands at 14.15 crore.

How Lover fared in its 1st week:

The film opened with 0.7 crore on Friday, followed by a jump on Day 2 (Saturday) with 1.1 crore. However, Lover saw an unsual dip in its collections on Sunday with earnings just about 0.99 crore. The film’s Monday and Tuesday collections were rock steady – 0.36 crore and 0.37 crore, respectively. On Valentine’s Day, the movie picked up slightly with 0.57 crore collections. Lover’s 6 days box office total stands at 4.09 crore.

On the oversesd front, needless to say, Lal Salaam collected 7.35 crore, while lover barely managed to earn 0.50 crore.

Although Lal Salaam earned more overall. After six days of running in theaters, Lal Salaam has accumulated a total of 14.15 crore, while Lover only brought in 4.09 crore. What’s interesting to observe is that the total business generated by these two films at the Kollywood box office is less than 20 crore. This is in stark contrast to the success that the industry experienced in January with the releases of Captain Miller and Ayalaan. These two movies alone brought in almost 150 crore in total, indicating that they were much more popular with audiences than Lal Salaam and Lover.
