The way Khoobsurat had seen good momentum building over the weekend with some good word of mouth coming in as well, it was mentioned in this very column that if the film manages to reach at the least the 18 crore mark in its first week, it had a chance to score well till Bang Bang arrives.

Well, now is the moment of reckoning for the Sonam Kapoor starrer, what with a good 19 crore coming in week one. Youth has liked the film for what it has to offer and though low start has meant a loss of 5-6 crore in the final run, the fact remains that it has managed to gain some good credibility amongst audience, trade and industry.

For Sonam Kapoor in particular, it has been a good sign indeed, especially after Raanjhanaa. Now she has yet another female centric film coming up next in the form of Dolly Ki Doli and her enhanced fan base coupled with some good acting abilities being demonstrated allow her to cheer aloud.

While 25 crore is a given for the film, it carries an outside chance of stepping into the 27-28 crore range. Though the film deserved better, for all involved – especially Fawad Khan, who has found a good entry point in Bollywood, and director Shashanka Ghosh, who now has found some good recognition – it is still time to celebrate.
