Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh is beating all the odds as far as its box office race is concerned. It received an ‘expected’ bashing from a ‘certain’ section of critics, but as we’ve been trying to prove since years now ‘junta is the king’. The movie has been amazingly accepted by the audience and its numbers are the proof.
It opened with 20.21 crores on Friday and since then there has been no turning back for the film. With a weekend 1 of 70.83 crores, the movie has bagged more 17.54 crores on its 1st Monday. It now stands at 88.37 crores but what’s interesting is that 17.54 crores Monday, which is better than most of the super hit movies.

For a fun trivia, let’s compare it with the 1st Monday of Salman Khan’s last 10 films.
Starting with Salman’s latest Bharat, the movie released on a Wednesday so it enjoyed the benefit of Eid Holiday and extended weekend 1. Its first Monday was 9.20 crores. Race 3, despite being the worst reviewed big film of 2018, managed to earn a huge 14 crores on its 1st Monday. This was crazy because everyone predicted a huge crash but it held its fort very well. Tiger Zinda Hai had Christmas holiday on its 1st Monday and hence managed a mammoth 36.54 crores on that day.
Similarly, Tubelight also has Eid-ul-Fitr on its 1st Monday and hence collected 18 crores despite the negative word of mouth. Sultan released on a Wednesday, so its 1st Monday was its 6th day at the box office. Even after juicing up the box office it had collected around 15 crores on its 1st Monday. The comeback of Sooraj Barjatya & Salman Khan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo got a huge advantage of the festive season of Diwali. It collected 13 crores on its first Monday at the box office.
