Kabir Singh Box Office: Amongst all the major records that this Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani starrer  has scored on its opening day at the Box Office, here is one more. The film has taken the 2nd biggest opening ever for an A certificate film in the history of Bollywood. This isn’t all as it is the first ever love story to do so.

Others in the list are across varied genres, though the erotica-thriller-horror genre takes precedence with six out of ten films belonging to various permutations and combinations of this genre. Satyameva Jayate, Veere Di Wedding and Shoootout At Wadala are the only three films that have managed to find an audience without an element of erotica or horror, and now Kabir Singh has now a part of that list.

Here is presenting Top-10 opening days for adults-only films:

  1. Satyameva Jayate – 20.52 crores
  2. Kabir Singh – 20.20 crores
  3. Grand Masti – 12.50 crores
  4. Veere Di Wedding – 10.70 crores
  5. Raaz 3 – 10.50 crores
  6. Shootout at Wadala – 10.10 crores
  7. Udta Punjab – 10.05 crores
  8. Hate Story 3 – 9.72 crores
  9. The Dirty Picture – 9.35 crores
  10. Desi Boyz – 9 crores

The good thing is that three amongst the top five of these films have released during last one year, which demonstrates how audiences are opening up to mature entertainment. It also has to do with the fact that there are good production values associated with these films, and the situations in the narrative aren’t forced in order to cater to adults. Instead, it is all organic and that is what has made Veere Di Wedding, Satyameva Jayate and now Kabir Singh manage such good numbers right at the onset.

It would be good to see the trend continue as there is audience for all kind of cinema and more the filmmakers experiment while keeping the entertainment quotient in more, better would be the outcome at the Box Office in time to come as well.
