John Abraham made his debut back in 2013 with Jism. Ever since then he has done around 40 films and has come across successes as well as failures. While of late his two hero [Dishoom] and multi-starrer affairs [Welcome Back, Shootout at Wadala] had done well, the same can’t really be said about his solo films Force 2 and Rocky Handsome. As a matter of fact his last major solo success was Madras Cafe [2013].

This is the reason why Parmanu – The Pokhran Story is special since this is yet another film where John Abraham is the central protagonist and as a matter of fact also the sole selling factor. The film has opened well and seen good jump over the weekend due to which it is now his second biggest weekend as a solo lead. Let’s take a look at the collections:

John Abraham scores his second biggest weekend as a solo hero with Parmanu - The Pokhran Story
John Abraham Scores His 2nd Biggest Weekend As A Solo Hero With Parmanu – The Pokhran Story

Madras Cafe21.01 crore

Parmanu – The Pokhran Story20.78 crore

Force 220.05 crore

Rocky Handsome16.12 crore

What is further special about this feat is the fact that while both Force 2 and Rocky Handsome were heavily promoted, Parmanu – The Pokhran Story had just a two week window open for it between the trailer launch and release.

Another interesting fact is that Parmanu – The Pokhran Story and Madras Cafe are pretty much in the same range as far as collections go. Now both films belong to the same genre and have politics, patriotism and entertainment being neatly amalgamated, hence reaching out to audiences who like their films to have good content leading the show.

While one waits to see how much further distance does the Abhishek Sharma directed film eventually cover, rest assured it could well turn out to be his biggest solo release till date while surpassing the lifetime numbers of Madras Cafe [42.67 crore] in quick time.
