When the film released in 2010, it did fabulously well all over the world. The sequel of the film really took the franchise a notch above and gave a boost to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The worldwide business of the film was $624 million according to Box Office Mojo and it collected half of it i.e. $312 million in the US.

1) The film was the 7th highest worldwide grosser of 2010. It did better than Tangled, Despicable Me & How to Train Your Dragon.

2) In the US, it proved to be 4th highest grosser of that year. Iron Man 2 did better than The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, Inception & Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1.

3) The film emerged Robert Downey Jr’s highest grosser worldwide but remained his second in the US. Domestically, it couldn’t cross the business of Iron Man (2008) which did a business of $318 million.

4) It is the 50th highest-grossing PG-13 movie and 80th highest overall so far in the US.

Iron Man 2 was directed by Jon Favreau who also played an integral role in the film.
