Kiara Advani led Indoo Ki Jawani had a disastrous first week as the collections struggled to be in the vicinity of 1 crore*. In the pre-COVID era, even in the worst case scenario this would have been the first day number of the film. However, by the look of things, it could well be the lifetime number for the Abir Sengupta directed film which has failed to find any takers.
It was in fact a bold decision by the makers to actually release the film at a time when not many are taking this step forward. It was of course a gamble and had the film worked, they would have been hailed for this decision. However, to the disappointment of all involved, neither was there audience interest generated per-release nor was there any appreciation post that. As a result, even that segment of audience that may have dared to step out of the house chose to stay back in there and that resulted in collections that are hardly anything to talk about.

Nonetheless, for Kiara Advani, this wouldn’t really be a major setback since she is signing films at a rapid pace and the year to come is already looking exciting with a number of releases already lined up. That would ensure that her stocks continue to stay up. However when it comes to Indoo Ki Jawani, it is curtains already sooner than later.
