Even though it’s not one of the most awaited biggies, it still carries expectations to bring the audience back to cinemas in the tough times.
The advance booking of Indoo Ki Jawani is currently going on online. Since the genre of the film appeals mostly to the big city audience, that’s where it’s getting some sort of response. Let’s have a look at how the upcoming film is doing as far as the advance booking is concerned.

Pune
Pune is yet to make a start as there are only 0-2% shows which are making some promise.

Delhi
Delhi is also doing quite nicely. The film has got 10-15% shows here which have got healthy occupancies. The national capital is one of the few cities which can get the film some kind of business.
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chandigarh & Ahmedabad haven’t shown enough turnaround yet. There are very few shows which are filling fast. All eyes are now on spot booking which anyway is tricky in the pandemic.

Meanwhile, director Abir Sengupta recently said that in the current situation, more than box office numbers, filmmakers need the support of the audience to bring back the normalcy to the culture of theatrical releases.
“It is a tough time for us to gain back that confidence, to go to the theatre and watch a film, considering the pandemic, but we also need the dose of entertainment and escape. Watching a film in the theatre offers that. Honestly speaking, we are not looking for the numbers really, but (are looking at) going back to the normalcy of releasing cinema in the cinema theatre. We want the audience to come back to the theatres to encourage theatrical release of our films. I am proud of my producers who have decided to release Indoo Ki Jawani in the theatre because theatrical release is an expensive affair and we are taking the bold step,” Sengupta told IANS.
