Chennai Express is merely not another release but a film that will hold significant importance to create new box office trends as expected. Koimoi had previously predicted that if all goes well with the film’s content and audiences positive response, there is a high chance the film will venture above the 200 crore mark. Now, we estimated the smooth sail of the film into the 100 crore club and deduce that it will be the first film on our 100 crore club list with the least number of days taken to reach the desired mark.

The film has extensive Thursday preview shows and according to fleeting reports from various circuits, the film has sold off more than 45% of it seats already. On its Day 1 given SRK’s popularity and Rohit Shetty’s track record, the film will kick start well. Since Bhaag Milkha Bhaag made an earning of almost 2 crores on its preview day, Chennai Express going by its booking schedule will easily make over 5 crores.

On its opening day, Chennai Express will began well given the exceeding hype rested on it. Shah Rukh’s last release Jab Tak Hai Jaan made 15 crores on its opening day despite another magnanimous release Son Of Sardaar alongside. His last singular release on a holiday was Ra.One which earned 25 crores at the box office. Though the film has high chances of making more than that but that’s the minimum expected collection from the film on its Day 1.

On Day 2, the film will grow by at least 20%-23% which is the normal growth quotient on weekends. Hence on Saturday, the film has possibilities to make an earning of over 30 crores. The prices for Chennai Express‘ ticket has been raised in most multiplexes across the country and hence the upward trend in the film’s collection will hopefully not see a lag.

On Day 3, the film should record a higher growth. Being a Sunday, a family film with mass appeal will be the most sought after thing. The film will again see an estimated upward growth of another 10%-15% and collect in the range of 33-34 crores at the domestic box office.

On its 1st Monday, the film can expect to see a usual 50% drop from its previous day collections and will hence earn in the range of 15 crores.

But accumulating the estimates of its first 4 days alone, excluding the preview shows, the film will smoothly enter the 100 crore club without hitches. But the conditions that remain constant through the estimates are that the film shouldn’t disappoint its masses and the word-of-the-mouth should be good for the film. SRK loyalists in their teeming numbers will obviously not be disappointed given the charm their favorite star has cast on them. But given the nightmare film of 2013, Sajid Khan’s Himmatwala that failed everyone enormously, Chennai Express too has the threat of being rubbished as trash entertainer.

In all likelihood, Chennai Express wouldn’t face the same given the brand of SRK associated with it. Also Rohit Shetty takes credit for creating his own niche in Bollywood that merges action and humor in the most entertaining way possible. Though this is his first stint with romance, but that’s one thing King Khan can never get wrong! Now it is only for box office to see whether, Chennai Express becomes the speediest entry into the 100 crore club.
