Amid a pool of upcoming installments of popular Indian franchises, Golmaal 5 is easily one of the most-anticipated films. On the ground level, this film is carrying immense hype, and all thanks to the loyal fan base of the franchise, the 5th installment is bound to smash records. In fact, it might go down as one of the highest-grossers in the history of Indian franchises. The reason we say so is an exciting hint about the film’s release date.
During a recent interview with News 18, Shreyas Talpade hinted that the film might go on the floors next year and might be released during the Diwali festive season. He said, “I’m hoping that we do it next year, and next Diwali is when we get to see Golmaal 5.” This statement has clearly sparked excitement among fans, and no doubt, it has become a topic of discussion on social media.
As Golmaal 5 is trending on social media, let’s discuss below how much this highly-anticipated comedy film will need to earn at the Indian box office. To set a target for part 5, we have mentioned the collection of each Golmaal film and calculated the growth that has been witnessed over the years.

It all started in 2006 when Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn decided to collaborate on a comedy film after giving an underperformer in the form of Zameen (2003). Yes, Golmaal: Fun Unlimited was released in 2006 with the least expectations pinned on it. Luckily, it turned out to be a Hit at the Indian box office with a collection of 30 crores net, thus marking the start of the iconic Bollywood franchise

In 2008, the team returned with Golmaal Returns. This time, expectations were really high, and the film successfully fulfilled them with an impressive collection of 51.9 crores net. If compared to part 1’s collection, it was a growth of 73%.
Again, after 2 years, i.e., in 2010, Rohit Shetty and the team returned with Golmaal 3. Upon its release, the film enjoyed some decent reviews by critics, which is a very rare thing to happen with Shetty’s films. At the Indian box office, it turned out to be a blockbuster and earned 106.3 crores net. From part 2’s 51.9 crores, it was a growth of 104.81%.
The team returned after a long 7 years to churn out 4th installment, Golmaal Again. Released in 2017, the film was a blast at the Indian box office and became the first 200-crore film in the franchise. It ended its journey at 205.72 crores net, which was a jump of 93.52% from part 3.
Calculating the average growth of the Golmaal franchise at the Indian box office, from Golmaal: Fun Unlimited to Golmaal Again, we get a number of 90.44%. Golmaal 5 will need to earn a whopping 392 crores net to achieve this much growth. Is it impossible to achieve? Well, we don’t think so!
If Golmaal 5 marks its arrival during Diwali 2025, and that too, in a solo release, the film will get a lucrative festive season to enjoy a glorious run. In the post-pandemic era, we have seen how the sequel factor has played a major role in making some films blockbusters at the Indian box office. With a solid buzz already on the ground level, Golmaal’s 5th installment can score 392 crores if it gets a huge screen count, blockbuster pricing (for the opening week), and offers good entertaining content to the masses. It’s definitely not easy, but it could be achieved.
