Fact-O-Meter: ‘Joker’ Jared Leto Used To Laugh On The Streets While Walking As A Part Of Suicide Squad’s Preparation!

We often come across the term ‘method acting’, but it isn’t that simple when it comes to the execution level. In Hollywood, the name of Christian Bale never skips our mind, whenever we speak of method acting. Apart from him, there are several other actors who have taken this route and Jared Leto is one of them. Here, we’ll be talking about his Joker stint in Suicide Squad.

Some might have liked Jared’s Joker and some might not! This topic will remain a debatable one for several reasons. But there’s one fact that no one can deny that the actor gave his everything to bring the best out of him. Interestingly, he even chose not to watch Heath Ledger’s performance in The Dark Knight, in order to stay away from Ledger’s Joker influence. He wanted to bring out a whole new version of the iconic supervillain.

Laugh is one of the important features of Joker’s character and Jared Leto tried one creepy method to nail it. It was during the preparatory phase of the Suicide Squad when the actor used to laugh on the streets of New York and Toronto. He used to try different laughing styles to see which one makes people around him more uncomfortable. It is after this weird experiment, Leto got his own version of a laugh for his own Joker.

Eccentric yet effective, isn’t it?

Meanwhile, speaking to CNBC’s Squawk Box, Jared Leto had shared about his unconventional method of preparation. He had said, “I worked on the laugh walking around the streets of New York and Toronto, and I kinda would walk around the streets and see what laughs would get under people’s skin.”
