Ever since the release of Bajirao Mastani and Dilwale on 18th December, there hasn’t been any film that has managed to make any impression whatsoever at the Box Office. The only notable release in last one month has been Wazir and that too has failed to impress. The smaller releases have just not managed to rise. There was some hope that 15th January would result in good footfalls at theaters with the arrival of Ghayal Once Again but pushing ahead of that film meant that this Friday turned out to be totally dry.
As a result, just around 3 crore came in overall yesterday, which is a pathetic total when one looks at theater capacity of around 50 crore. This pretty much indicates that overall, theaters are running at less than 10% occupancy, which is terrible to say the least.

Holdover release Wazir was the only film that managed over 1 crore on its second Friday. The film has now crossed the 31 crore mark, which doesn’t say much by the way. Chalk N Duster, the new release of the week, got an advantage of an open Friday and hence managed good number of shows for itself. That didn’t translate into decent collections though as the film stayed under the 1 crore mark (trade estimates).

Bajirao Mastani didn’t fall much after its Thursday collections of 0.96 crore as it brought in around 0.75 crore on its fourth Friday. The film currently stands a little under the 182 crore mark. Dilwale is on course of ending its run at the 149 crore mark and its current collections stand at 147.5 crore.
All eyes are now on next Friday’s twin releases of Airlift and Kya Kool Hain Hum 3 to bring back the audience.
Note: All collections as per production and distributor sources
