As it happens with all small releases that are sandwiched between biggies, it was a terrible outcome for the films that arrived over the weekend gone by. Since Dishoom was already in its second week and Rustom & Mohenjo Daro are set for release on the coming Friday, it was nothing but suicide for four Hindi films to come together. The decision was taken and the impact was felt by The Legend Of Michael Mishra, Fever and Hai Apna Dil Toh Awara which didn’t have anything going for them right through the weekend and couldn’t garner even 5 crore between them. Neither the audiences were interested nor the critics were forgiving and the end result was minimal collections in the offering that were hardly notable.

As for Dishoom, it continued to gain audience footfalls and with 9.5 crore* coming in, the collections now stand at 63 crore*. The film should go past the 68-69 crore mark before close of its second week and then play on to some extent in the third week, which would be primarily dominated by Rustom and Mohenjo Daro.

Amongst the new releases, Budhia Singh – Born to Run found some sort of attention but that wasn’t enough to qualify as a safe proposition for those associated with it. After Traffic, this is yet another film for which Manoj Bajpayee has earned accolades but that’s about it.

*Final numbers awaited
