Cocktail started on a high note last weekend but it seems couldn’t maintain the pace. After making a 35.65 Crores 1st weekend the movie did somewhat fairly on Monday. The total domestic box-office collections on it’s 1st Monday were 6 crores. If you look at the average drop in box office collections it wasn’t more than 50% across India.

Since the movie had started on a low note in the non-urban areas and single theaters one can guess that the 50% drop proved to be disastrous for collections there. It might come as a relief for the movie makers that the movie did fairly well in multiplexes.

If you look at the 1st Tuesday collections of Cocktail there was another 15% drop as compared to its 1st Monday Collections. The movie made about 5 crores nett and its total box office collections as of now stands at 46.65 crores nett. The drop it seems is huge especially when compared to Bol Bachchan‘s 1st week. However, the target group issue has played a big hand here. While the movie is continuing to do decent business in big multiplexes it’s collections in single screen theaters are dwindling by the day.

It shouldn’t be tough for the movie to manage a lifetime collection of 75-80 crores. It is a known fact that movies in this genre do not do too well as the target group is quite limited. If you look at the past, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was the only movie to have collected about 90 crores. Cocktail doesn’t seem to be steady enough to break that record but can surely touch a lifetime collection of 80 crores.
