It is turning out to be the year of Diljit Dosanjh. Ambarsariya, Udta Punjab and now Sardaarji 2 – the man has scored a hat-trick of successes this year and has continued to reaffirm his position as one of the most bankable superstars around. His Sardaarji is doing great guns as the film has so far brought in over 9 crore in five days flat. This is remarkable since the Rohit Jugraj directed film is a regional release and is playing only up North and that too mainly in Punjab and Delhi NCR.

What is all the more impressive about the film is the fact that it has almost collected the same as the combined collections of Raman Raghav 2.0 [4.85 crore*], Junooniyat [2.75 crore*], 7 Hours To Go [1.5 crore*] and A Scandall & Dil To Deewana Hai [1 crore] so far. Leave aside the competition from Hollywood, here a regional film has gone past half a dozen Bollywood releases and that too at less than half the screens!

On the other hand his Udta Punjab, which did quite well in the first three days and managed to go past the safety mark, is on a steady decline. With 60 lakhs* more on Tuesday, the film has just about reached 55.75 crore* mark. It would have to really stretch to touch 60 crore. Above average.

Hollywood release Independence Day: Resurgence hasn’t really worked anywhere across the globe and India is no exception. The film brought in around 2 crore* on Tuesday and currently stands around the 21.5 crore* mark. Disappointing.

*Final numbers awaited
