Join UsThis Friday is set to be quite exciting for the audience, what with Raaz Reboot and Pink arriving in theaters. Last few weeks have been depressing at the Box Office with films like Baar Baar Dekho, Freaky Ali, Akira and A Flying Jatt not really covering the distance. The wait for a bonafide Box Office success has been on since the release of Rustom and all eyes are on Raaz Reboot and Pink to break the spell.
Raaz Reboot is fourth in the series of Raaz franchise and takes forward the horror legacy for Bhatts [Mahesh, Mukesh, Vikram] and Emraan Hashmi. Some of the biggest successes for the team have come from horror genre and in fact Raaz 3 stays on to be the biggest money-spinner ever for all involved. When released in 2012, Raaz 3 had taken a very good opening of 10.25 crore and then went on to enjoy a lifetime of 73 crore. Such a success hasn’t been matched by any other Bollywood horror flick.
Raaz 3 had an advantage though of the novelty factor of 3D as well as Bipasha Basu’s presence. Now that Raaz 4 is releasing, it is arriving in 2D and the leading lady is new too [Kriti Kharbanda]. The music has caught on well and that’s an added advantage. For Vikram Bhatt and Emraan Hashmi, the film has to do really well since their last few films haven’t done well commercially. Emraan’s last release Azhar had taken an opening day of 6.3 crore and if Raaz Reboot opens on the same lines, it would be a fair start for the film.
On the other hand Pink would be aiming at starting on the same lines as Talvar [2.5 crore]. The Irrfan starrer investigation drama belonged to the similar genre too and ultimately went on to be a good success at 30 crore lifetime. With Amitabh Bachchan powering Pink, the film is expected to start at least at these levels and then grow on word of mouth. The film is already finding very positive coverage from all over and that has been a very good boost for the Shoojit Sircar produced film. Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari are other notable names in the film and are said to have come up with powerful performances too.
Both Raaz Reboot and Pink gain from the fact they are arriving with zero competition from the past as neither Baar Baar Dekho nor Freaky Ali have done well. That means if they are well received by the audience, the ground would be set for them to make moolah in days and weeks to come.
